Pain is a sensation in the body that is always unpleasant.
In the medical field we use a pain scale 0 to 10
If 10 is the absolute worst pain you can feel
I've been at a 20 for decades.
Pain is subjective.
Pain is whatever you say it is, wherever you say it does.
Pain can be a weapon
Pain can be motivation
Some people use pain as medicine
I've used pain to cope
It can come into your life as fast as a tornado
Destroying everything in its path
Or it can creep in quietly slowly taking it over
I've felt all kinds of pain
Aching, throbbing, stabbing, burning
Sorrow, despair, grief, hopelessness
Over 20 years I've been married to pain, the longest relationship I've ever had.

I have felt the sting of barbed wire wrapped around my legs
I have walked barefoot on nails
My back has ached like it carried the weight of the world
My insides burned like the fires of hell
My knees have creaked like an old attic door
An axe has been buried in my shoulder since I can remember.
Migraines put my head in a vise grip
My neck is so tight if you twist it just right my head would pop off like a dandelion
My body has been dragged through the mud at a spartan race

But there's too much to do.
A mom, a wife, a boss, a friend.
No time to lay in bed.
So I'll take a few pills.

Family and friends don't understand.
Canceling plans, missing important events
So I take a few more pills,
drink a little
and I'll be able to get through it.

Doctors can't find anything wrong.
Test results all healthy and clear.
My husband thinks I'm making it up.

I'm so tired, my body exhausted running on fumes
Every ounce of energy I have used to block out the pain

I'm calling out of work, the kids are always late to school

Pain makes you question your reality

I'm ridden with guilt.

Pain changes people
Pain makes you isolate yourself because no one understands
Pain can slowly drive you crazy
little-by-little inch-by-inch day-by-day until one day you don't recognize yourself in the mirror
My life has been a long journey full of trauma and hurt.
But I've also experienced great Joys.
Without pain we cannot understand pleasure.

Pain is an emotional experience.
Somewhere through the fog of anxiety, depression and pain.
I saw a glimmer of light.
I clutched onto that spark
like my life depended on it.
Because it did.
I swallowed my pride
I asked for help.
I found a natural doctor
I started using plant medicine

You are what you eat
I completely changed my diet
I meditate morning and night
Yoga every day
For the first time in my life I went to the gym
I'm getting stronger

At a time when I had lost everything

My identity is not tied with these labels
Daughter, wife, mom, homeowner, boss
I am much more than that.
I am stronger than a superhero
I am braver than the greatest of warriors
Because I choose to live, every day.

I am a soul on a mission
The darkest hour will always be a part of the light.
I will use my darkness to lead others out of their pain towards the light.

cause I WILL get through it.

Without the darkness we can never truly appreciate the light.
Our souls chose the path we are on.
We create our experiences
All of this,
The pleasure, the happiness, the sadness, and even the pain
We came to Earth to experience the full spectrum of emotions
I'm grateful for the journey
I'm grateful for the spiral that is life
I'm grateful for the opportunity to keep learning lessons

We aren't meant to do it alone
We're here to do it together
Love is the most powerful form of energy
When we share love with one another we transmute pain
In this way love heals

If you are barely holding on
If some days the pain is too much to bear
When the journey looks soooo long
It can be overwhelming
Just take the first step.

We have the power to change our situation.
All it takes is a change in perspective.

So just take the first step.

Almost 21 million Americans have at least one addiction, yet only 10% of them receive treatment.

Drug overdose deaths have more than tripled since 1990.

From 1999 to 2017, more than 700,000 Americans died from overdosing on a drug.

Alcohol and drug addiction cost the U.S. economy over $600 billion every year.

In 2017, 34.2 million Americans committed DUI, 21.4 million under the influence of alcohol and 12.8 million under the influence of drugs.

About 20% of Americans who have depression or an anxiety disorder also have a substance use disorder.

More than 90% of people who have an addiction started to drink alcohol or use drugs before they were 18 years old. I was 12.

Americans between the ages of 18 and 25 are most likely to use addictive drugs.

We have the answer. Plant medicine is the key. Cannabis can treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, cancer, pain, inflammation, ADHD, epilepsy and soooo much more.

Times are changing. People are educating themselves and demanding change. We as a people deserve clean chemical-free food, water, and medicine.

Amongst other names like

Strong
Courageous
Brave
Determined
Persistent
Adaptable
Unpredictable
Earthy
Edgy
Nature lover
Shapeshifter
Plant enthusiast
Energy worker
Goddess
Queen
Dancer
Lover
See the letters strategically placed together hold no meaning.
It is the energy behind the word that holds meaning.
When you change your words
You change your life.
It's called spelling because you are casting a spell.
You are creating your reality.
What story do you tell yourself?
What do you tell people you just met?
Are you a victim of circumstance?
Or are you a powerful creative divine being with infinite power at your fingertips?
Speak with intention.
Speak with positivity.
Speak with power.
Speak with love.
One day you'll sit back and notice that you've changed.

 The first time I heard your heartbeat I fell in love.
The first flutter in my belly made my heart skip a beat.
That first kick was when I realized sometimes love hurts, but it's so worth it.
Childbirth made me believe I was a warrior for love.
The first sleepless night I watched you breathe.
As a new mother I was full of worry and fear.
As an experienced mother I understand unconditional love
will keep my children safe.
I have never claimed to be a perfect mom.
I have made my fair share of mistakes.
I apologized to my children and promised to do better.
And we continue to grow together.
We allow eachother the space to have bad days.
We also love eachother a little harder on those days.
True love is when your son tells you that you look beautiful when you first wake up, bare faced and messy.
True love is when your daughter thanks you for always being supportive.
Motherhood is not being Super mom.
It's being real and showing our children moms aren't perfect.
When we allow our children to see our struggle they will learn strength.
When we allow our children to see us cry they will learn empathy.
When we allow our children to see our anger they will learn
it is ok to express our emotions.
When we allow our children to see our mistakes, they will learn that no one is perfect.
When we allow ourselves to be real, we raise independent well adjusted children.
So here's a reminder to all the moms out there.
We don't have to be perfect!
